Hey guys!

Some of us have been contemplating ideas on making the "4th of July" in HG like it used to be. Some of you may not remember and some of you may remember it being a lot better than i can remember....but the reality is "It has gone down"...that is the one time that we can get together and have a good time and talk about old times. One of the traditional events of "The 4th" is the "grown people dance"...mostly catered to Holly Grove Alumni...well, as it stands now...their is not a good place that can handle the massive amount of people and still secure them from the mosquitos. So, one suggestion has been to air condition the only place that is large enough and it has a lot of memories: The High school gym. ...not to mention it gives the children who are still their a nice place to go and play ball year round. So, of course funds are a major part of this upgrade. Do we need the money today, No! All I am asking from this message is for a committment to pay $50 towards this upgrade. Some of you maybe thinking...I don't have $50...we are in a recession.....and if this is what you are thinking then a committment for a smaller amount is welcomed. Please reply to myself or tell your committment to either of the two ladies mentioned below. Again, the money isn't needed today. One of the ladies below will be contacting you when it is time to send the money to people who will be making the renovation. Please feel free to forward this message to whomever you wish.

Count me in,  I will start with the 1st $50,  Who knows? I might give $5000 if I have to.

Take care and God Bless

Hey Yall,

That is a swell idea.  But you guys need to go to the topic, "Retirement" and read the different comments that  people are talking about.  I know you all are just talking about activities for the 4th of July, and I am all for it, but if you all read the conversations under the topic "Retirement" in the announcement web, then you will find that some people are willing to take part but their is a problem preventing them.  I have also heard that some people that normally travel to HG from out of state for the 4th of July have decided next 4th of July to either stay  and celebrate in their own hometown or go to other states for festivities because of what is going on.  There are also people who are retired who have discussed with other family members about moving back have started to get a change of heart because of some people talking guns.  As for myself, I am retired and have thought of moving back.  I had also thought of contributing some of my investments to HG because that is where I am from and I still love HG but I feel the Mayor need to do more to help people want to move back, and also do something to make people feel comfortable and safe on the 4th of July holiday vacation by having her law enforcement personnel to ensure that things be done in an orderly manner.  I think the more people join in on the 4th of July festivities and feel comfortable and enjoy themselves the more enticing it is to make them want to move back.
